What is the ideal word count that we should be aiming at for an article that we want to lead to potential sales? Is it 300-400? Or a maximum of 500?
Also, your detailed advice on how to write really good articles works well if we’re going to write the articles ourselves.
But what if we outsource writing them? Then we have to take the extra effort to explain to them in detail the techniques of how to write the articles, and then sticking to a particular writer who does the job very very well, right?
The ideal word count is whatever works for that niche. I know that may sound like a cop out, but if you think about it, that is the exact reason it is important to understand the niche. Here are some examples from my personal experience.
Video Games - as close to 300 words as I can get - They don’t really want info, they just want the product they are searching for.
yeast infections - 400 - 500 words - They actually want a little bit of info to make sure they are going to a link that will help them.
You see how that varies? Hopefully, you can take a look at the niches and tell why one requires a little more content than the other one.
As far as outsourcing goes, I’ve never outsourced on a regular basis to a writer that I did not give instructions as to how I wanted my articles written. I let them know approx how many words I want and the tone I want set in the article.
If I don’t do that, then I end up spending a couple of minutes adjusting the article to fit the niche that I am in.
Jeremy has tons of samples to show you. I’ve been reading more about the summary part. The rest I have it down but I always would just copy and paste some of the article lol. I just wrote a few articles by making my own summaries so will see how it goes.
That was an excellent explanation on content and resource boxes. I appreciate you being so thorough. I could see where my articles fall flat and I will give all that information some study time to get it right.
I wanted to ask you stated when outsourcing your articles that you advise the writer the approx. words and the tone you want set for the article. What exactly do you mean by the tone?
Once the writer finishes your articles, do you send it back for revision if it is not to your liking? What criteria do you use in order to choose a writer for your articles? Is it cost or how well they write?
When outsourcing your article writing, do you send them a website to also review so they get a feel for what you’re looking for?

Any thoughts on this outsourcing issue? Thanks!

Are you going to give us a list of which article directories to post to?
What are your thoughts on only posting to Ezine Articles v posting to Ezine Articles and lots of other directories?

In your video on Day 3 you said you aim for 2-3 sales per niche per day. How many articles per niche per week do you write to make this happen?

Writing long articles can be hard, if you can write long will be great, but I can only write very short articles.
